A ‘vase bouquet’ that can hold a unique, extravagant floral display. Designed by Jean-Baptiste Fastrez, the Pacha, Allpa and Qucha vases have a strong visual impact. These sculptural and eccentric pieces are real works of art that can be displayed inside the home as both ornaments and flower vases. These vases are made in enamelled ceramic in Northern Italy. Each piece is a result of painstaking artisan workmanship. Pacha, Allpa and Qucha are made in the same way: A large central vase (identical in all three styles) to which six smaller vases in different shapes have been attached. The vases merge to create a bounteous asymmetrical assembly. The distinctive character of each vase comes from the way in which the smaller vases are repeated and harmonise with the central vase. The names Allpa, Qucha and Pacha come from Inca mythology. These are the names of the many-breasted goddess of fertility, the goddess of agriculture and the goddess of the sea. For an outstanding floral display, place different flowers in each vase. An ENSCI graduate (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle), Jean-Baptiste Fastrez cut his teeth under the direction of François Azambourg, then the brothers Bouroullec. Since then he has created his own path: Hybrid and uber-creative! For him, objects must have character and provoke upset and wonderment.
The Allpa vase is a versatile piece that works well in both contemporary and eclectic interiors, thanks to its unique sculptural form and muted grey tone. I love how it can be styled as a standalone statement on a side table or mantel, or filled with a simple bouquet of wildflowers or greenery for a fresh, natural look. Its sizeable height makes it perfect for creating visual interest in larger spaces, and it pairs beautifully with natural textures like wood or rattan. Practical styling tip: try balancing the arrangement with some taller grasses or leafy stems to emphasise its organic shape, and keep the colour palette neutral for a sophisticated, modern feel.
