Description

This Flower Power cushion lets you craft a sweet scene featuring busy bees flitting from one colourful flower to another in their search for pollen. Suitable for an intermediate sewer, it is constructed using the raw edge appliqué technique to help advance your sewing skills. Details on the flowers and the ambling flight path of the bees are created through decorative quilting, stitches by machine or hand, or a mix of both, if desired. The "fold and cut" method of cutting out the circular flower pieces is inspired by paper-cut snowflakes. Have fun applying this simple principle to fabric with beautiful results! Wadding and Bondaweb are not included in this kit.

Our Stylist Says

This Alice Caroline Flower Power Liberty fabric cushion kit is a lovely way to add a pop of colour and pattern to any space. I love how the vibrant, floral design can bring a fresh, lively feel to both contemporary and vintage-inspired interiors. It works particularly well in relaxed living rooms or bedrooms where a touch of playful charm is welcome. For styling tips, try pairing it with neutral cushions or a plain upholstered sofa to let the fabric take centre stage. The sewing kit aspect also makes it a great DIY project, perfect for adding a personalised touch to your home accessories while ensuring a perfect fit and finish.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
