Treat yourself to an icon! Danish modernist architect of worldwide renown, Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ lamp in 1957 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, in 1957. Not only did Arne Jacobsen design the hotel down to the very last detail for airline SAS, he also designed almost all of the hotel's furnishings, lighting and accessories. The AJ lamp is one of Arne Jacobsen's best-known creations. The AJ series is now considered to be the model which put the Danish architect's name on the global scene. Originally, the product family included a floor lamp, a wall light, and a table lamp. The wall light was also arranged in rows in the hotel's entrance hall, creating a beautiful lighting with an elegant touch. Over the years, the colour palette has been expanded. The new 2023 chromatic range is inspired by the watercolours that Arne Jacobsen painted throughout his life of his garden, the landscape around his summer home, or his travels in France and Italy. The AJ lamp has an iconic, graphic expression which wonderfully illustrates Jacobsen's style. The profile of he AJ lamp, with its straight lines and combined oblique and straight angles, is a bold reference to the profile of the 3300 range's armchairs, as well as to the geometric lines of the architect's buildings. The lighting is perfect. The light gives of a downward-directed light. The angle of the lampshade can be adjusted to optimise the lighting. The interior of the lampshade is painted white to create a softer and more comfortable light. A true icon of Scandinavian design, the AJ lamp combines pure, timeless design with excellent lighting qualities. The lamp's timeless design makes it perfect for any interior.
This yellow metal lamp is a stylish and functional addition to a variety of interiors. Its adjustable arm makes it practical for task lighting in reading nooks, study areas, or beside a favourite armchair. The colour and sleek design give it a playful yet modern edge, ideal for contemporary spaces or to add a pop of colour to more neutral schemes. For styling, consider pairing it with minimalist furniture for a clean look, or juxtapose its retro roots with bold, geometric decor. Its versatile form means it works well in both home offices and bedside settings, providing both practical illumination and visual interest.
