Our Stylist Says

I love the Agnes Flakestone ceiling pendant in nickel for its versatile, understated elegance. Its simple yet refined design makes it suitable for a variety of interiors, from modern minimal spaces to more classic, eclectic schemes. The soft, textured glass shade adds a touch of warmth and diffuses light beautifully, making it ideal for creating cosy atmospheres in dining rooms, kitchens, or even bedrooms. Practical styling tips include pairing it with sleek, contemporary furniture for a clean look or layering with other metallic finishes for a more eclectic feel. Its neutral tone and timeless shape mean it can easily date or complement current trends, making it a smart choice for both short-term updates and long-term styling.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
