Afternoon Café II is a framed print taken from original work by Louis du Var. His evocative paintings capture the relaxed outdoor life of the Mediterranean – in particular France, Italy and Spain. This work, just like Afternoon Café I, shows a little back street in France. But instead of it being filled with tables and umbrellas, this particular street is quieter. Some people stand at the end, and two others sit on chairs under the shade of an awning. The street is cobbled, and mostly shadowed apart from one patch of sunlight. The eye is drawn to shop signs, red shutters, window boxes filled with flowers and lush green plants in outdoor planters. The elegantly framed Afternoon Café II print complements the Afternoon Café I and Sunlit Street prints by the same artist. Dimensions. Width: 48cm (19in). Height: 68cm (27in).
I love the casual charm of this café scene print, which works beautifully in both contemporary and rustic interiors. It’s a versatile piece that can add a touch of European street style to living rooms, kitchens, or even a cosy nook. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with neutral wall colours and simple frames to let the artwork stand out. Practical tips include grouping it with similar artwork or placing it above a console table with minimal accessories. It’s especially good for adding a relaxed, inviting vibe in spaces designed for socialising or unwinding.
