One of the foremost designers of mid-century French modernism, Jacques Adnet was celebrated for his avant-garde style, innovative design and unusual mix of luxurious materials such as integrating metal, glass and leather. Designed in 1946, the Adnet mirror perfectly exemplifies his aesthetic, which was inspired by the work he was doing at that time for Hermés. The simplicity of the design – a single circle of glass, hung by a durable leather strap – is balanced by the deep colour of the leather, making it a modern piece that will complement an array of interior schemes. The leather, produced and hand-stitched in Italy, is tanned and stained by artisan craftspeople using vegetable tannins, and this process is entirely natural and environmentally-friendly.
