I’m a fan of these velvet drapes because the soft sheen and weight instantly lift any room without feeling over-the-top. They work just as well in a pared-back Scandi scheme - where the subtle colour keeps things light - as they do in a more classic setting alongside dark woods and brass accents. For best impact, hang the pole about 15cm above the window frame and extend it beyond the reveal so the fabric sits neatly at each side when open. Pair with a simple blind for extra insulation, and choose tie-backs in a contrasting textile (linen or wool) to introduce another layer of texture.
