Description

Plate 5 from the 'Kaleidoscope', A. and M.P. Verneuil, Paris, 1926 © Victoria and Albert Museum, London. This giclee print has a handmade and hand-finished sustainably sourced solid ash wood frame. Made in the UK by museum specialists and printed on heavyweight, matt-smooth fine art paper, it's ready to hang on your wall. The highly stylised designs by the Verneuil brothers, Adam and Maurice, were intended as inspiration for textiles and/or wallcoverings. Originally appearing in their portfolio Kaléidoscope Ornaments Abstraits, published in 1926 by Edition Albert Levy, Paris, the numerous examples of abstract Art Deco design motifs were produced in pochoir and evoke the dynamism of modern culture that was common of Art Deco. In 1924, French brothers Adam and Maurice-Pillard Verneuil produced a porfolio ‘Kale?idoscope, Ornements Abstraits; Quatre-vingt-sept Motifs en Vingt Planches' which is considered a masterpiece of Art Deco design. It contains 87 plates of bright, geometric Art Deco prints showing designs for textiles. Founded in 1852 to make works of art available to all, today the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) is the world's leading museum of art, design and performance. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?

Our Stylist Says

I love this piece because of its bold, geometric design which can add a contemporary touch to any space. It's particularly versatile, working well in modern living rooms or bedrooms where it can serve as a statement art piece. To get the most from it, consider pairing it with neutral walls to let the colours really pop, or coordinate with cushions and accessories in similar hues for a cohesive look. The size and framing make it ideal for larger wall spaces or above a sideboard or console table, offering an instant melange of colour and pattern that elevates the overall decor.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
