Price History

Description

Originally designed in 1952 by Alvar Aalto for the Finnish Engineers' Association, the black Pendant Light A110 would lend a touch of contemporary style to any home. Nicknamed the 'Hand Grenade' after its distinctive shape, the pendant lamp features a black powder coated steel shade and a black lacquered inner ring at the bottom that diffuses light, preventing glare. The perforated inner ring creates a corona effect around the pendant light, adding the final touch to a light that would enhance any space with its warm glow. Alvar Aalto was one of the founding members of Finnish manufacturer, Artek, and embraced strong individuality with focus on designing predominantly for humanity, creating functional and dynamic pieces for public and personal spaces alike. Requires: 1 x Max 60W E27 bulb (not included)

Our Stylist Says

I love the A110 Beehive Pendant in black for its sleek and contemporary aesthetic that can elevate a variety of interiors. Its minimalist yet sculptural form makes it a versatile choice, working especially well in modern, industrial, or monochrome schemes. It's perfect for creating focused lighting in kitchens, dining areas, or even as a statement piece in a hallway. For styling tips, consider grouping a cluster of these over a kitchen island or dining table for added impact, or hang singly in a high-ceilinged space to emphasise its clean lines. Pairing it with matte finishes or contrasting textures such as wood or concrete can help highlight its design and make it a focal point.
