Description
An iconic design originally conceptualised in 1935 by Finnish designer Paavo Tynell for the Hotel Aulanko, the wicker willow edition of the 9602 Floor Lamp is expertly crafted by Gubi. Boasting an elegant canvas lampshade finished with a pointed brass cap, the triangular lamp is also known as the 'Chinese Hat' due to its recognisable shape. Decorative and functional, the lamp is accompanied by a brass base, rattan-covered stem and brass-hued textile cord cable for a truly luxurious finish. Renowned for his influence on modern lighting design, Paavo Tynell originally trained as a blacksmith before founding his metalwork and lighting studio in 1918. With a simplified aesthetic, his pieces echo influences from mid-century modernism, showcasing counterweighted suspension mechanisms and beautiful complimentary materials in appealing forms.
