I’m a fan of this black ladder shelf for its slim, space-saving frame and open tiers, which suit everything from Scandi-inspired living rooms to contemporary home offices. Its five shelves give you room to mix books and decorative objects without looking cluttered, while the bottom tier is perfect for a woven basket or storage box to hide away odds and ends.
For styling, group items in sets of threes, alternate vertical and horizontal book stacks, and tuck a trailing plant on one of the middle shelves to soften the lines. Keep the top shelf simple - perhaps a slim planter or a minimal sculpture - so the whole display feels balanced and easy to update.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
