It suits everything from a minimalist Scandi living room to a loft-style study or even a cosy home office.
Styling tips: alternate stacks of books (colour-coordinate spines if you like) with decorative objects such as a small plant, a ceramic vase or a framed photo. In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
