I’m a fan of this fold-out floor futon sofa for its chameleon-like flexibility: it easily switches from a laid-back lounger to a guest bed without taking up much room. The soft, neutral grey works well in Scandi-inspired, minimalist or urban-loft settings, and the simple lines mean you can layer in bolder textures without clashing.
To style it, anchor the seating area with a low-pile rug and a narrow side table - your coffee cup and a book will be within easy reach. Add a couple of lumbar cushions in contrasting fabric (think velvet or woven cotton) and a lightweight throw for extra comfort and a pop of colour. When it’s folded away, tuck the cushions behind as a neat backrest or stack them beside as a casual pouffe.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
