Contemporary interior design is simple, clean and offers an uncluttered look. The furniture that best suits this style features clean-cut lines and striking colours or the innovative use of materials. Individual, unique pieces of furniture are the key to contemporary style. One of Gubi's most innovative products, the Gubi Chair collection, was designed by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen of Komplot Design. The Gubi Chair is the first furniture design to be based on the innovative technique of moulding three-dimensional veneer. The 3-D design gives the chair a comfortable seat and sense of lightness. Ground-breaking technology allows the thickness of the veneer to be reduced to half that normally used. The Gubi chair was designed in 2003, has won numerous design awards and is included in the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The GUBI Chair collection is a series of chairs for restaurants, cafes, conference, lounge, office and home. It includes chairs, stool, and lounge chair. The shell is available in laminated moulded 3. D-veneer or in the injection moulded Hi. Rek material (with or without a fabric seat). Choose from an extensive palette of colours and finishes! The steel sledge base of the stool is non-stackable and comes in chrome, black or white. The swivel base of the stool is available in chrome and offered with a foot ring and return swivel mechanism. The 4-legged wooden base of the stool comes in oak, black painted or American walnut.
I love this chair for its sleek, minimal silhouette that blends modern and Scandinavian influences seamlessly. The plastic shell provides durability and easy maintenance, making it practical for everyday use, while the wooden legs add warmth and natural texture. It works well in both contemporary and pared-back interiors, especially when paired with a variety of table styles, from wood to glass. My styling tip would be to combine it with a neutral or muted colour palette for a calm dining area, or mix it with bold textiles and accessories to add visual interest. It’s versatile enough to sit comfortably in both formal dining rooms and casual breakfast nooks, making it a smart choice for various interior schemes.
