The "265" wall light was created in 1973 by architect and designer Paolo Rizzatto. Its perfectly functionalist look and strictly formal humility give the impression of aesthetic neutrality. Having become a design classic, this industrial design wall light continues to stand the test of time! The 265 lamp consists of a head and a weight, each balanced at the ends of an adjustable arm, attached to the wall. For Paolo Rizzato, the objective of this piece is to "help improve the human experience of an architectural space". He defines his approach as belonging to the field of architecture: “As an architect, I work with the concept of composition: everything I design is made up of several parts, and my job is to identify each element of a project and put them together in a harmonious, logical way. The "Chromatica" version uses the colours of the original model. When it was created in 1973, the 265 wall light was a tribute to colour. Paolo Rizzato explains: “It has a red head, blue body and yellow leg: assigning a colour to each part helped me communicate the project. ” Subsequently, the 265 wall light was offered in plain colours, in black or white, and we had to wait until 2021 to find it in its original colours again. The large rotating arm (L 205 cm) and adjustable diffuser allow the light to be directed precisely in all directions. This wall light lets you direct the light flow above you whatever you’re doing: reading in an armchair, eating around a table. So it’s a useful replacement for a pendant, or even a floor lamp. PLEASE NOTE: This wall light comes with a black electric cable with a plug to connect to the mains (L 203 cm). ".
I love this wall light for its playful, retro-inspired vibe that adds colour and personality to any space. Its multicoloured design makes it particularly suitable for eclectic, contemporary, or industrial interiors where a pop of colour is welcome. The length and adjustable arm mean it can be positioned to highlight specific areas or serve as an artful accent piece. For styling tips, consider pairing it with bold wallpaper or minimal pastel backgrounds to really let the light’s character shine through. It works well in eclectic living rooms, children’s rooms, or even as a statement piece in a feature wall, adding both functional light and a touch of whimsical charm.
