Gino Sarfatti (1912 - 1985) was one of the 20th century's greatest lighting designers. Founder of the famous "Arteluce" lighting company, he was one of the first designers to take an interest in the new functions of lighting. Sarfatti abolished the boundaries between the functional and decorative aspects of lighting, creating new types of luminaire.
I love the 2097 Pendant because it offers a sophisticated, vintage-inspired look with its clean white metal finish and frosted bulbs, making it a versatile piece for a range of interiors. It's particularly well-suited to contemporary or minimalist spaces that could benefit from a touch of mid-century design heritage. For practical styling, consider hanging it in a dining room, where its sizeable Ø 69 cm diameter makes it a focal point above a table, or as a statement centrepiece in an open-plan living area. Pair it with matching white or neutral hues to keep the look cohesive, or juxtapose its retro feel with modern furniture for a striking contrast. Its timeless design means it works equally well in residential and hospitality settings, adding both aesthetic appeal and functional lighting.
