Design. A show-stopping design that offers both style and support. The distinctive Azaela features angled lines and buttonless tufting; certain to make a great talking point in any living space. Beautifully upholstered in your choice of rich velvet, it oozes sophistication. Its plump fixed foam cushioning retains its shape, provides longevity and offers a firm sit. Pair with the equally sophisticated Azaela square footstool for added relaxation and optimum comfort.

Our Stylist Says

This teal velvet two-seater is a real statement piece that works particularly well in contemporary or mid-century inspired interiors. I love its bold colour and plush texture, which instantly adds a touch of luxe without feeling formal. It's versatile enough to sit in a relaxed living room or a more sophisticated setting when paired with contrasting textures, like matte ceramics or woven textiles. Practical styling tips include accessorising with neutral cushions or metallic accents to let the sofa really stand out. Keep the surrounding furniture simple and streamline its legs with a rug underneath to anchor the look-perfect for injecting personality into a space without overwhelming it.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
