You’ll find the widest choice at The Range, Nordic Nest and La Redoute. The range keeps growing: retailers have added 55 new brown lamps to Flitch in the last 30 days. About two in five brown lamps are metal and about a quarter are wooden. By type, more than half are table lamps, and about a quarter are floor lamps. There are also 358 with built-in LED lights. Brown can be forgiving of everyday wear, and it sits naturally alongside wooden floors and furniture. It’s a good idea to measure your space before you choose: of the brown lamps with measurements listed, most are between 40 and 110cm tall.

How much do brown lamps cost?

Half of all brown lamps on Flitch cost less than £100. That’s about 25% more than lamps in general, which usually cost around £80. The biggest difference in price comes down to material: metal ones typically cost £110, about 25% more than wooden ones at £90. Type matters too, with floor lamps at around £110 against £90 for table lamps. It also pays to shop around: of the retailers with plenty to choose from, The Range is usually the cheapest, at around £60, and Soho Home the most expensive, at around £900.

What other shoppers are choosing

Beige and white lamps are also popular with shoppers, if you’re not set on brown. Ceramic lamps are popular with shoppers, but there are fewer to choose from than most other materials.

Is now a good time to buy brown lamps?

Right now 138 brown lamps are reduced, typically by 16% – and some by up to 55%. About one in ten brown lamps are cheaper than they’ve usually been over the last three months.
