Description

In the year of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, we reimagined a rare antique designed for Westminster Abbey for the coronation of King George VI. The dipped seat pad has remained, but it’s been given a modern makeover with a longer back panel and extra padding for added comfort. The characteristic carved hoof feet add charming detail that elevate the design from simple to sophisticated. Truffle velvet gives the piece a refined look, which is enhanced by a passementerie trim that frames the bottom of the seat.

Our Stylist Says

I’ve been specifying the Abbey chair in Truffle for its neat profile and tactile velvet upholstery - it instantly softens a dining space without feeling overly fussy. The muted grey-brown tone and solid oak legs suit everything from pared-back Scandi schemes to more traditional country or Japandi looks. For styling, mix these chairs around a light oak or marble-topped table to let the velvet stand out, then layer in woven placemats or a statement runner for contrast. If you’re after extra comfort, a simple linen cushion in a complementary shade will work beautifully and is easy to swap out seasonally.
