Description

Clean, pure and elegant, the Austin oak extending dining table seats 4 people when closed and up to 10 when its two extending leaves are added. Inspired by classic Scandinavian designs, this table is made from solid and veneered oak and has a unique grain pattern that adds character to the design. Smooth, gently rounded edges add detail to the table’s cross frame and stretched bar and its neutral colour palette will complement any décor.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this table because of its clean, natural look and practical extendable design, making it ideal for both everyday dining and entertaining guests. The oak finish adds warmth to a variety of interiors, from Scandi-inspired minimalism to more traditional or rustic schemes. It works particularly well in neutral-toned rooms with simple, understated decor, allowing the wood's natural grain to stand out. For styling, consider pairing it with a mix of sleek, modern chairs for a contemporary feel or some upholstered or woven seats for softness. To keep the look cohesive, keep accessories minimal-perhaps a simple table runner or centrepiece-so the table remains the focal point. Its extendable feature makes it highly versatile, so it can adapt seamlessly to changing space needs.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
